“As a free event in the heart of the capital it is opening up classical music to a wider audience” – Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London.

BMW will host its fifth LSO Open Airt Classics series on the 22nd May, seeing the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev, perform an all-Tchaikovsky programme including an arrangement of the universally-loved Swan Lake suite, alongside the Russian composer’s 1812 overture and Symphony No 4.

Dr Ian Robertsone, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG expressed his excitement saying: “Since starting the series in 2012, thousands of people have been able to enjoy a concert by a world-class orchestra in the stunning open-air environment of Trafalgar Square. This is what BMW’s cultural engagement is all about”.

LSO will be joined by members of their ‘On track’ programme, where “Young musicians from East London, many from challenging backgrounds, are given training by LSO musicians and throughout the year a number of inspiring performance opportunities.” The concert will begin at 6:30pm and is free of charge, although it is advised that you arrive early to secure entry.
