This review promotes the BMW i8 as BMW’s ‘flagship sports car’, a result of its stunning design, stylish interior and engine making it feel like a ‘power train’. Since being introduced onto the market in 2014, the BMW i8 has changed very little, with this review arguing it really doesn’t need to due to being one of the most desirable cars on the market still today.

Design

The BMW i8 design is one of the most compelling and distinguishable selling points. The BMW i8 is a wide car measuring 6.5ft, but it is other little tweaks such as the floating buttresses over the rear wheels and housing the brake lights and the black belt running the length of the car which ‘The Week’ argues makes it stand out the most.

Interior

When you open the door, the luxury feel of the car that the design portrays continues as you are greeted ‘by a car that is beautiful and familiar’. The materials are said to be more conventional and high quality, combined with driver-focussed controls, meaning the BMW i8 gives a high level of comfort for all.

Powertrain

The i8 is powered by a 1.5 litre, turbocharged three-cylinder engine. Combined with this is an ‘electric motor with 129bhp placed over the front axle, making the BMW i8 a four-wheel drive hybrid’. The combined petrol and electric engine further gives further benefits than just the power as in terms of efficiency, the combined fuel consumption rating is 134.5mpg. Overall the BMW i8 ‘is not only one of the best looking sports cars on sale, but one of the most remarkable too’.
