‘530e hybrid joins new BMW 5 Series range’ by Auto Express05/01/2017
BMW look to have successfully combined the efficiency of an electric car, while retaining its characteristically powerful and fun drive in the newly announced BMW 530e. The four-cylinder petrol engine still boasts 181bhp, while its electric counterpart sports an impressive 94bhp. This results in a ‘combined balanced system output of 248bhp’ unleashing an impressive 0-62mph sprint in 6.2 seconds.
‘Despite that performance, BMW claims a combined economy figure for the 530e of 141mpg and CO2 emissions of just 46g/km.’ This union of power, economy and reliability raises the BMW 530e above its rivals and make it hard to ignore.
The new ‘eDrive’ mode looks to have improved on their already impressive in-car technology, ‘allowing the driver to decide how much charge to use/retain or let the system decide for itself’.
